Welcome to an update of the Nebraska Birdline, sponsored by the Audubon
Society of Omaha, for Friday, January 11th.

In western Nebraska on the 9th in Sioux County, 2 COMMON REDPOLLS visited
a feeder on Wind Springs Ranch.

In Scotts Bluff County on the 10th, the bird previously believed to be a
Swainson's Thrush, was relocated and identified as a SAGE THRASHER. On the
8th, a COMMON SNIPE was seen in a drainage ditch at 26thand Avenue B in
Scottsbluff. In Carter Canyon on the 8th, a GOLDEN EAGLE, a TOWNSEND'S
SOLITAIRE and a small flock of RED CROSSBILLS were found. Also on the 8th,
a FERRUGINOUS HAWK was seen at the prairie dog town at Kiowa WMA. On the
6th, a WHITE-WINGED CROSSBILL visited a feeder in Mitchell. On the 1st
the following species were seen at the Wildcat Hills Nature Center: 2
PYGMY NUTHATCHES, 4 RED-BREASTED NUTHATCHES, a TOWNSEND'S SOLITAIRE, 3
PINE SISKINS and 5 RED CROSSBILLS.

In Thomas County on the 5th, 12 RED-BREASTED NUTHATCHES and 14 TOWNSEND'S
SOLITAIRES were found at Halsey National Forest.

In central Nebraska on the 7th in Harlan County, a CAROLINA WREN, a
RUBY-CROWNED KINGLET and a TOWNSEND'S SOLITAIRE were seen.

In Buffalo County on the 6th, a BROWN THRASHER was seen in Kearney.

In eastern Nebraska on the 9th in Burt County, 6 WHITE-WINGED CROSSBILLS
were found in the Tekamah Cemetery.

In Douglas County on the 9th, 6 RED-BREASTED NUTHATCHES and a WHITE-WINGED
CROSSBILL visited a feeder between Elkhorn and Gretna. On the 8th, 7
WHITE-WINGED CROSSBILLS were found in Hillcrest Cemetery at 56th and Center
Streets in Omaha.

On the 9th in Dixon County, 2 WHITE-WINGED CROSSBILLS visited a feeder at
the Wakefield school.

On the 7th in Fillmore and Clay Counties, a SHARP-SHINNED HAWK, 10 NORTHERN
HARRIERS, 9 ROUGH-LEGGED HAWKS, 3 PRAIRIE FALCONS and 2 NORTHERN SHRIKES
were found.
