Welcome to an update of the Nebraska Birdline, sponsored by the Audubon
Society of Omaha, for Tuesday, February 26th.
In western Nebraska in Garden County on the 21st, a GYRFALCON was spotted
north of Oshkosh on the road to Crescent Lake NWR. A SNOWY OWL was also
seen on the 21st about 3 miles south of Crescent Lake NWR.
In Scottsbluff County on the 22nd, a WHITE-WINGED CROSSBILL visited a
feeder in Morrill.
In Box Butte County on the 18th, 4 EURASIAN COLLARED-DOVES were seen in Alliance.
In eastern Nebraska in Richardson County on the 23rd, a PILEATED
WOODPECKER and several YELLOW-RUMPED WARBLERS were found at Indian Cave
State Park in the area near the cave. On the 24th, 2 AMERICAN WOODCOCKS,
a RED-HEADED WOODPECKER and 4 GOLDEN-CROWNED KINGLETS were seen at Indian
Cave State Park.
In Sarpy County on the 22nd in Bellevue the following birds were found in
Fontenelle Forest: 9 BALD EAGLES, a RED-SHOULDERED HAWK, a PILEATED
WOODPECKER (at the Great Marsh) and a CAROLINA WREN.
In Nemaha County on the 23rd, 2 EURASIAN COLLARED-DOVES were seen in Johnson.
In Johnson County on the 23rd, a YELLOW-BELLIED SAPSUCKER was seen in the
Tecumseh cemetery.
ln Lancaster County on the 24th, a WHITE-WINGED SCOTER was spotted on
Holmes Lake in Lincoln. On the 23rd at Branched Oak Lake, a ROSS'S
GOOSE, 200 RING-BILLED GULLS and 10 HERRING GULLS were found.
In Dixon County on the 24th, a COMMON REDPOLL was still visiting a feeder
northwest of Wakefield.
In central Nebraska in Buffalo County on the 23rd in Kearney, 2 BROWN
CREEPERS and 19 PINE SISKINS were found in the cemetery. On the lake
behind Grandpa's Steakhouse in Kearney, 4 ROSS'S GEESE, 11,000 SNOW GEESE
and 300 GREATER WHITE-FRONTED GEESE were seen. Also on the 23rd, a
SHARP-SHINNED HAWK and a MERLIN were seen southeast of Gibbon.
In Rock County on the 22nd, 12 WHITE-WINGED CROSSBILLS were seen at a
feeder in Bassett.
