Welcome to an update of the Nebraska Birdline, sponsored by the Audubon
Society of Omaha, for Friday, March 22nd.

In central Nebraska in Hamilton County on the 20th, a SNOWY OWL was seen
south of Interstate 80 between mile markers 325 and 326.

In Phelps County on the 20th, a LESSER YELLOWLEGS, a PECTORAL SANDPIPER,
2 LONG-BILLED DOWITCHERS and 3 WILSON'S PHALAROPES were found at Funk
Lagoon. On the 16th, a GREATER YELLOWLEGS was seen at Funk Lagoon.

In Buffalo County on the 20th, a WHOOPING CRANE was found southeast of
Denman. About 250,000 SANDHILL CRANES were reported to be in Nebraska on
the 20th. On the 19th, 14 EURASIAN COLLARED-DOVES were found in east
central Kearney. In Hall County on the 17th, 35 GREATER PRAIRIE-CHICKENS
were seen at a lek near Cairo.

In Kearney County on the 16th, a MERLIN and 2 YELLOW-HEADED BLACKBIRDS were
spotted along Highway 44 about 4 miles south of the Platte River.

In Rock County on the 22nd, 2 WHITE-WINGED CROSSBILLS were still visiting
a feeder in Bassett.

In eastern Nebraska in Lancaster County on the 22nd, a LOGGERHEAD SHRIKE
and 4 PURPLE FINCHES were seen at Spring Creek Prairie south of Denton. On
the 16th at Wilderness Park, a COOPER'S HAWK, 6 BROWN CREEPERS, 3
GOLDEN-CROWNED KINGLETS, a CAROLINA WREN and a LINCOLN'S SPARROW were
found. At Holmes Lake on the 16th, a HORNED GREBE was seen. On the 17th
about a mile north of Arbor Lake, 3 LOGGERHEAD SHRIKES were spotted.

In Douglas County on the 20th, the WHITE-WINGED CROSSBILLS were still
being seen at feeders south of Methodist Hospital. In Sarpy County on
the 18th in Bellevue, an EASTERN PHOEBE was seen in Quail Creek housing
area. On the 18th at Walnut Creek Recreation Area west of Papillion, a
GREAT BLUE HERON and a TREE SWALLOW were found. Also on the 18th at
Fontenelle Forest, a PILEATED WOODPECKER, 3 YELLOW-RUMPED WARBLERS and 5
RUSTY BLACKBIRDS were seen.

In Dixon County on the 20th, a COMMON REDPOLL was still visiting feeders
northwest of Wakefield.

In Johnson County on the 19th, a COMMON REDPOLL was seen at a feeder on a
farm on the Johnson- Nemaha County line.

In Washington County on the 14th, a TURKEY VULTURE and a NORTHERN
MOCKINGBIRD were seen 2 miles south of Fort Calhoun.

In western Nebraska on the 21st in Scotts Bluff County, a GOLDEN EAGLE
was seen at the North Platte Bridge southeast of Scottsbluff. On the
22nd, 100 MOUNTAIN BLUEBIRDS were seen in a Gering backyard. Also on the
22nd, 23 BALD EAGLES were spotted near the Platte River east of Gering.
