Welcome to an update of the Nebraska Birdline, sponsored by the Audubon
Society of Omaha, for Monday, April 22nd.
In central Nebraska in Frontier County on the 21st at Medicine Creek
Reservoir, 3 EARED GREBES, 14 WESTERN GREBES, an OSPREY, 2 ORANGE-CROWNED
WARBLERS, 2 VESPER SPARROWS and 2 PINE SISKINS were found.
In northwest Furnas County on the 21st, a EURASIAN COLLARED-DOVE was
found in Cambridge.
In Harlan County on the 19th, 10 AMERICAN AVOCETS, 2 WILLETS and 6
BONAPARTE'S GULLS were seen at Harlan Reservoir. Also on the 19th in
Harlan County, a SAY'S PHOEBE was found.
In Phelps County on the 18th, 5 WHITE-FACED IBIS and a MARBLED GODWIT were
seen at Funk Lagoon.
In western Nebraska in Scotts Bluff County on the 21st, a EURASIAN
COLLARED-DOVE was seen in Gering by the Methodist Church. On the 21st ,
a ROUGH-LEGGED HAWK and an UPLAND SANDPIPER were seen at Kiowa WMA.
In eastern Nebraska in Burt County on the 21st, 10 RED-BREASTED
MERGANSERS, 6 SEMIPALMATED PLOVERS, 7 WILLETS, a DUNLIN, 123 BAIRD'S
SANDPIPERS, 5 LEAST SANDPIPERS, 16 PECTORAL SANDPIPERS and a WILSON'S
PHALAROPE were found at Summit Lake south of Tekamah. Also on the 21st,
6 WILLETS were seen at the Tekamah sewage lagoon.
In Douglas County on the 21st, 13 HUDSONIAN GODWITS were seen on the
north side of Eppley Airfield. Also on the 21st, a WILLET was found on
the west side of Carter Lake. On the 21st at Cunningham Lake, 2 AMERICAN
AVOCETS were seen on the north side of Highway 36. In Washington County
on the 17th, a NORTHERN MOCKINGBIRD was seen in the Neale Woods parking lot.
In Sarpy County on the 19th in Bellevue, 2 LOUISIANA WATERTHRUSHES were
seen in Mormon Hollow and 2 were seen in Child's Hollow on the 20th. On
the 22nd south of Bellevue, 9 EARED GREBES were seen at Offutt Lake and on
the 18th, a CATTLE EGRET was found there.
In Lancaster County on the 20th at Holmes Lake, a WILLET, 400 FRANKLIN'S
GULLS and 7 PURPLE MARTINS were seen. At Hedgefield Lake on the 20th, 5
GREAT EGRETS were found. On the 21st at N. 27th and I-80, an AMERICAN
BITTERN, a LEAST SANDPIPER, 4 SEMIPALMATED SANDPIPERS and 6 WILSON'S
PHALAROPES were seen at Cracker Barrel Marsh. At Pawnee Lake on the
21st, 5 LONG- BILLED DOWITCHERS were found. On the 18th, a NORTHERN
MOCKINGBIRD was seen north of Denton.
On the 21st in York County, a GREAT EGRET and a SANDHILL CRANE were seen at
Recharge Lake west of York.
On the 21st in Cuming County, a SWAINSON'S HAWK was seen 5 miles
southwest of Pender.
In Iowa south of Council Bluffs on the 21st, 3 PIPING PLOVERS, 16
AMERICAN AVOCETS, a WILLET and 2 DUNLINS were found at the MidAmerican
power plant south pond.
