Welcome to an update of the Nebraska Birdline, sponsored by the Audubon
Society of Omaha, for Wednesday, May 1st.

In central Nebraska in Phelps County on the 28th, a VIRGINIA RAIL and a
MARSH WREN were seen at Funk Lagoon, and 250 WILSON'S PHALAROPES were
found there on the 25th.

In eastern Nebraska in Burt County on the 28th, 10 MARBLED GODWITS were
seen at Summit Lake south of Tekamah.

In Richardson County on the 28th at Indian Cave State Park, 4 GREAT
CRESTED FLYCATCHERS, 3 YELLOW-THROATED VIREOS, a BLUE-HEADED VIREO, 19
BLUE-GRAY GNATCATCHERS, 5 NORTHERN PARULAS, 4 OVENBIRDS and 3 LOUISIANA
WATERTHRUSHES were found.

In Fillmore County on the 28th at the Geneva Cemetery, 3 SWAINSON'S
HAWKS, a BLACKPOLL WARBLER and 65 PINE SISKINS were found. At Sandpiper
WMA on the 28th, 2 BLACK-CROWNED NIGHT-HERONS, a BROAD-WINGED HAWK and 11
MARBLED GODWITS were seen. At Weis WPA on the 28th, a SORA and 12 BREWER'S
BLACKBIRDS were found.

In Douglas County on the 29th, 7 WESTERN KINGBIRDS, an EASTERN KINGBIRD and
5 GRASSHOPPER SPARROWS were seen behind Eppley Airfield in Omaha. Also
on the 29th, a PALM WARBLER was found at Heron Haven in northwest Omaha.
In Sarpy County on the 30th in Bellevue, a SWAINSON'S THRUSH, a WOOD
THRUSH, a GRAY-CHEEKED THRUSH and 7 species of warblers including a BLACK and
WHITE WARBLER, 2 PALM WARBLERS and a COMMON YELLOWTHROAT were seen in
Fontenelle Forest. On the 25th at Fontenelle Forest, a PROTHONOTARY
WARBLER and a NORTHERN WATERTHRUSH were found on lowland trails. On the
29th at Walnut Creek Recreation Area, 21 BLACK-CROWNED NIGHT-HERONS were
seen. A PAINTED BUNTING was coming to a feeder in Bellevue last week,
but was not seen after it was reported on the 28th.

In Washington County on the 30th, 2 AMERICAN PIPITS were seen at Boyer
Chute NWR near the south end of the refuge. Also on the 30th, a
PEREGRINE FALCON was spotted at Nathan's Lake.

In Antelope County on the 28th in flooded fields south of Creighton, a
CATTLE EGRET, 12 WILLETS and 6 MARBLED GODWITS were seen and on the 30th, a
SORA and a HUDSONIAN GODWIT were found. In Dixon County on the 29th, a
MERLIN was seen northwest of Wakefield.

In Lancaster County on the 30th south of Denton, a SEDGE WREN was seen at
Spring Creek Prairie. On the 28th in Saunders County, a LITTLE BLUE
HERON and a SEDGE WREN were found north of Cedar Bluffs.

In Colfax County on the 26th, a WESTERN GREBE was seen at a Schuyler
sandpit. In Platte County on the 26th, a SANDERLING was seen at Lake
North and a NORTHERN PARULA was seen at Lake Babcock.

In western Nebraska in Kimball County on the 28th, a WHIMBREL and 10
MARBLED GODWITS were found at Oliver Reservoir. In Scotts Bluff County
on the 28th, 16 MARBLED GODWITS and 24 BONAPARTE'S GULLS were seen at the
Scottsbluff sewage lagoons. Also on the 28th, at Kiowa WMA, 4 CINNAMON
TEAL were found.

In Iowa south of Council Bluffs on the 30th at the MidAmerican south
pond, a SNOWY EGRET and 10 CASPIAN TERNS were seen.
