Welcome to an update of the Nebraska Birdline, sponsored by the Audubon
Society of Omaha, for Tuesday, June 18th.
In eastern Nebraska in Lancaster County on the 15t h, at Branched Oak
Lake, 85 AMERICAN WHITE PELICANS, a SEMIPALMATED SANDPIPER and 37
WHITE-RUMPED SANDPIPERS were found. On the 16th at Branched Oak Lake, a
CALIFORNIA GULL was spotted. On the 15th at Pawnee Lake, a SEMIPALMATED
PLOVER, 8 SEMIPALMATED SANDPIPERS, 14 WHITE-RUMPED SANDPIPERS and 2
PECTORAL SANDPIPERS were seen. During the week of the 9th at Spring
Creek Prairie, a HENSLOW'S SPARROW was found. Also during the week of
the 9th, a WILLOW FLYCATCHER and a BLUE GROSBEAK were found at the Saline
Wetlands Nature Center in Lincoln.
In the eastern Rainwater Basin on the 16th, a GREAT EGRET, 29
WHITE-RUMPED SANDPIPERS, 6 WILSON'S PHALAROPES and 16 GREAT-TAILED GRACKLES
were seen.
In Douglas County on the 14th, 3 EURASIAN COLLARED-DOVES were reported in
the 132nd and Maple area in Omaha north of the Super Target.
In central Nebraska in Phelps County on the 16th the following species
were found at Funk Lagoon: 15 BLACK-CROWNED NIGHT-HERONS, 2 FRANKLIN'S
GULLS, 100 YELLOW-HEADED BLACKBIRDS and 7 SWAMP SPARROWS.
In Hamilton County on the 10th, a EURASIAN COLLARED-DOVE was seen in
Hampton near the grain elevators.
In Holt County on the 14th, 2 GRAY PARTRIDGES were seen east of O'Neill,
a mile west of Knox County.
In western Nebraska in Keith County on the 13th at Lake McConaughy, a
MARBLED GODWIT, a SANDERLING, 23 SEMIPALMATED SANDPIPERS, a BAIRD'S
SANDPIPER, 261 WHITE-RUMPED SANDPIPERS, 7 PECTORAL SANDPIPERS, a STILT
SANDPIPER, 10 CALIFORNIA GULLS, a LEAST TERN and a NORTHERN MOCKINGBIRD
were found.
In Lincoln County on the 13th, a CLARK'S GREBE was spotted at Sutherland Reservoir.
In Cherry County on the 14th, a COMMON LOON and 33 WESTERN GREBES were
found at Meritt Reservoir.
In Sioux County during the week of the 9th, a BARN OWL was seen along the
access road to Agate Fossil Beds National Monument.
