Welcome to an update of the Nebraska Birdline, sponsored by the Audubon
Society of Omaha, for Monday, July 8th.
In eastern Nebraska in Cedar County, a BROWN PELICAN was seen again below
Gavin's Point Dam on the 2nd.
In Stanton County on the 2nd, 2 Least Terns were found on the Elkhorn
River south of Pilger.
In Burt County on the 4th, 48 TURKEY VULTURES, 8 LESSER YELLOWLEGS, 2
GREATER YELLOWLEGS, a LEAST SANDPIPER and a PECTORAL SANDPIPER were found
at Summit Lake.
In central Nebraska in Harlan County on the 7th, a BLACK-CROWNED
NIGHT-HERON, a COMMON MERGANSER, a COOPER'S HAWK and 2 LOGGERHEAD SHRIKES
were seen.
In western Nebraska in Sioux County on the 6th, 4 CASSIN'S KINGBIRDS and 2
PINYON JAYS were spotted in Smiley Canyon. On the 6th, 2 GRAY PARTRIDGES
were seen at Highway 20 and the Henry Road. Also on the 6th, a pair of
CORDILLERAN FLYCATCHERS and a PLUMBEOUS VIREO were found in Sowbelly
Canyon, and a pair of BLUE-GRAY GNATCATCHERS were seen just north of
Sowbelly Road and Pants Butte. West of Fort Robinson on the 6th, a BARN
OWL was seen on Vogl Loop Road.
In Sheridan County on the 7th, a BLACK-NECKED STILT was spotted near
Lakeside along Highway 2.
In Iowa west of Missouri Valley on the 7th, 2 fledgling BALD EAGLES were
seen at DeSoto NWR.
