Welcome to an update of the Nebraska Birdline, sponsored by the Audubon
Society of Omaha, for Tuesday, July 30th.

In eastern Nebraska in Lancaster County on the 28th at Pawnee Lake a
WESTERN SANDPIPER and 28 STILT SANDPIPERS were found. On the 26th the
following species were seen at Pawnee Lake: 2 SEMIPALMATED PLOVERS, a
GREATER YELLOWLEGS, 12 LESSER YELLOWLEGS, 3 WILLETS, 10 SEMIPALMATED
SANDPIPERS, 102 LEAST SANDPIPERS, 15 BAIRD'S SANDPIPERS, 59 STILT
SANDPIPERS, a SHORT-BILLED DOWITCHER and 15 LONG-BILLED DOWITCHERS. On the
28th, 5 AMERICAN AVOCETS were seen at Branched Oak Lake.

In Sarpy County on the 28th south of Bellevue and east of Offutt AFB, 5
BUFF-BREASTED SANDPIPERS were seen on a sod farm on the west side of the
road, south of the railroad tracks. On the 27th, 4 UPLAND SANDPIPERS
were found there. Also on the 27th in the same area, a NORTHERN
MOCKINGBIRD was seen less than a mile east of Harlan Lewis Road.

In Cass County on the 28th at Schilling Wildlife Refuge east of
Plattsmouth, 21 FORSTER'S TERNS and 3 LEAST TERNS were seen on sandbars in
the Platte River.

In Clay County on the 28th, 3 SHORT-BILLED DOWITCHERS were found at
Harvard Marsh.

In central Nebraska in Harlan County on the 28th, 6 GREAT EGRETS, a
LITTLE BLUE HERON, a BLACK-BELLIED PLOVER, 500 BAIRD'S SANDPIPERS, 10
STILT SANDPIPERS and 10 WILSON'S PHALAROPES were seen.

In western Nebraska in Arthur County on the 27th, a NORTHERN MOCKINGBIRD
was spotted 8 miles east of Arthur on Highway 92. In the southwest
corner of McPherson County 3 WHITE-FACED IBIS, 4 LONG-BILLED DOWITCHERS,
a WESTERN SANDPIPER and 6 WHITE-RUMPED SANDPIPERS were seen on the 27th at
Diamond Bar Lake. In Logan County on the 27th, 3 TRUMPETER SWANS were
seen 3 miles west of Stapleton on Highway 92.

In Cherry County, also on the 27th, an immature SHORT-EARED OWL and an
adult GOLDEN EAGLE were spotted 16 and 20 miles north of Whitman respectively.

In Holt County, on the 27th, 2 EURASIAN COLLARED-DOVES were present at
the intersection of 2nd and Clay Streets in O'Neill.
