Welcome to an update of the Nebraska Birdline, sponsored by the Audubon
Society of Omaha, for Monday, Aug. 5th.

In eastern Nebraska in Knox County on the 2nd the following species were
found at the Niobrara Swamp: a BLACK-BELLIED PLOVER, 11 SEMIPALMATED
PLOVERS, 23 LESSER YELLOWLEGS, 3 SOLITARY SANDPIPERS, 68 PECTORAL
SANDPIPERS, 43 STILT SANDPIPERS, 5 BUFF-BREASTED SANDPIPERS and 4
SHORT-BILLED DOWITCHERS. On the 1st, a GREAT EGRET, a PIPING PLOVER, 3
AMERICAN AVOCETS, a RUDDY TURNSTONE, 23 SHORT-BILLED DOWITCHERS and a LEAST
TERN were seen there.

In Pierce County on the 2nd, over 100 UPLAND SANDPIPERS were seen in a
field near Foster.

In Sarpy County on the 4th in Bellevue, a RED-BREASTED NUTHATCH visited a
feeder. In Douglas County on the 4, a EURASIAN COLLARED-DOVE was seen in
Omaha at the intersection of Marshall Drive and "O" Street.

In Richardson County on the 2nd, 2 PILEATED WOODPECKERS, a CAROLINA WREN
and 2 SUMMER TANAGERS were found at Indian Cave State Park.

In Saline County on the 2nd in Crete, an immature BROAD-WINGED HAWK was
seen flying over the Doane College Campus.

In Lancaster County on the 4th, a WESTERN GREBE was seen at Stagecoach
Lake. On the 3rd at Branched Oak Lake, a DOUBLE-CRESTED CORMORANT, 11
AMERICAN WHITE PELICANS, 13 LEAST SANDPIPERS, 24 SEMIPALMATED SANDPIPERS,
11 PECTORAL SANDPIPERS, 2 STILT SANDPIPERS, a WILSON'S PHALAROPE, 3
FRANKLIN'S GULLS and 5 BLACK TERNS were found.

In western Nebraska in Scotts Bluff County on the 2nd, a BROAD-TAILED
HUMMINGBIRD was spotted at a feeder in Mitchell. On July 29th, a RUFOUS
HUMMINGBIRD was seen at the Wildcat Hills Nature Center.
