Welcome to an update of the Nebraska Birdline, sponsored by the Audubon
Society of Omaha, for Monday, Aug. 19th.
In eastern Nebraska in Knox County on the 19th, an immature/female
CALLIOPE HUMMINGBIRD visited the Brogie feeders in Creighton. On the
18th, an immature/female BROAD-TAILED HUMMINGBIRD was seen there.
In Sarpy County on the 17th south of Bellevue, 3 WESTERN SANDPIPERS were
seen at the small pond on Missouri River Road south of Offutt AFB. In
the east-most sod farm on Missouri River Road, 3 BLACK-BELLIED PLOVERS, 7
BUFF-BREASTED SANDPIPERS and a SHORT-BILLED DOWITCHER were found on the
17th. On the 18th in Bellevue, 2 PILEATED WOODPECKERS were seen near the
Wetlands Center and at the Great Marsh in Fontenelle Forest.
In Dixon County on the 18th, a SEDGE WREN and 2 AMERICAN PIPITS were seen
northwest of Wakefield.
In Lancaster County on the 16th at Pawnee Lake, a LITTLE BLUE HERON, 3
SEMIPALMATED PLOVERS, a BUFF-BREASTED SANDPIPER, 12 LONG-BILLED
DOWITCHERS, 2 LEAST TERNS and a PEREGRINE FALCON were found. At Branched
Oak Lake on the 16th, 7 GREAT EGRETS, an AMERICAN GOLDEN-PLOVER and 35
WILSON'S PHALAROPES were seen.
In western Nebraska on the 18th in Cheyenne County, a male RUFOUS
HUMMINGBIRD and a WILSON'S WARBLER were seen in a backyard in Sidney.
