Welcome to an update of the Nebraska Birdline, sponsored by the Audubon
Society of Omaha, for Monday, Sept. 23rd.

In western Nebraska on the 18th in Scotts Bluff County, a juvenile
SHARP-TAILED SANDPIPER was seen at Lake Alice. On the 21st, a male and
female WESTERN TANAGER were found in Riverside Park in Scottsbluff. On
the 21st, a RUFOUS HUMMINGBIRD was seen in a Mitchell backyard.

In Kimball County on the 21st, 2 AMERICAN PIPITS, a TOWNSEND'S SOLITAIRE
and a MACGILLIVRAY'S WARBLER were found at Oliver Reservoir.

In Keith County on the 22nd, an estimated 30,000 WESTERN GREBES, a LESSER
BLACK-BACKED GULL and 9 CALIFORNIA GULLS were seen at Lake McConaughy.

In central Nebraska on the 21st in Phelps County, a RED PHALAROPE and a
RED-NECKED PHALAROPE were found at Funk Lagoon. Also seen at Funk Lagoon
were 7 WHITE-FACED IBIS, a MERLIN and 7 additional shorebirds species
including 200 STILT SANDPIPERS and 55 LONG-BILLED DOWITCHERS.

In Lancaster County on the 21st at Branched Oak Lake, a BROAD-WINGED HAWK
and 300 FRANKLIN'S GULLS were seen.

In Iowa on the 22nd north of Crescent, a BLACK VULTURE was spotted flying
south at the Hitchcock Nature Area Hawk Watch.
