Welcome to an update of the Nebraska Birdline, sponsored by the Audubon
Society of Omaha, for Monday, Jan. 6th.

In western Nebraska on the 4th in Sioux County, a sighting was confirmed
of a CURVE-BILLED THRASHER present on a ranch in southeastern Sioux
County since late October. For information, contact Alice Kenitz at

In central Nebraska on Dec. 27th, the Calamus-Loup CBC tallied 46
species. Highlights were: TRUMPETER SWAN, BALD EAGLE, ROUGH-LEGGED HAWK,
MERLIN, WILSON'S SNIPE, RED-BREASTED NUTHATCH, PALM WARBLER and PURPLE
FINCH. A FERRUGINOUS HAWK was seen during count week.

In Valley County on the 5th, a SHARP-SHINNED HAWK and a NORTHERN SHRIKE
were found near Arcadia.

In Brown County on the 27th, a PRAIRIE FALCON was spotted just east of Ainsworth.

In Holt County on the 27th, a NORTHERN SHRIKE was seen east of Atkinson.

In Buffalo, Phelps and Kearney Counties on Dec. 14th, the Kearney CBC,
tallied 51 species including an AMERICAN BITTERN and 2 RED-BREASTED NUTHATCHES.

In Iowa east of DeSoto NWR on the 1st, 2 TRUMPETER SWANS were spotted in
a field along Road L16. South of Council Bluffs on the 4th, 4 TRUMPETER
SWANS were still being seen at Lake Manawa.
