Welcome to an update of the Nebraska Birdline, sponsored by the Audubon
Society of Omaha, for Tuesday, Feb. 11, 2003.

In eastern Nebraska on the 8th in Douglas County, 6 TRUMPETER SWANS, an
adult GLAUCOUS GULL in basic plumage and 3 BALD EAGLES were found at Carter
Lake located across from Eppley airport.

In Sarpy County on the 11th in Bellevue, 2 PILEATED WOODPECKERS were seen
along the boardwalk in the floodplain in Fontenelle Forest. On the 7th
in Bellevue, a HERMIT THRUSH visited a suet feeder on Bellevue Boulevard.
On the 5th in Bellevue, a RED-BREASTED NUTHATCH visited a feeder
southwest of Fontenelle Forest.

In Lancaster County on the 4th at Pioneers Park, a COMMON SNIPE and a
CAROLINA WREN were found at the nature center.

In central Nebraska in Gosper County on the 9th, a DOUBLE-CRESTED
CORMORANT and 21 BALD EAGLES were seen at Johnson Lake.

In Dawson County on the 9th, a PIED-BILLED GREBE was found in the Plum
Creek Reservoir outlet canal. Also on the 9th, 31 WESTERN MEADOWLARKS
were seen and heard singing 3 miles southwest of the Darr I-80 exit, and in
southwestern Dawson County, 673 HORNED LARKS were seen. At Bittern Call
SWMA on the 9th, a MERLIN was spotted.

In western Nebraska on the 7th in Scotts Bluff County, 40 BALD EAGLES
were seen south of Scottsbluff south of the Platte River bridge.
