Welcome to an update of the Nebraska Birdline, sponsored by the Audubon
Society of Omaha, for Thursday, March 6th, 2003.

In eastern Nebraska in Gage County, the 2 WHITE-WINGED DOVES reported in
Beatrice on February 28th, have been identified as EURASIAN
COLLARED-DOVES. They were seen in Beatrice on the 2nd. Also, seen on
the 2nd, was a LONG-EARED OWL at Rockford Lake.

On the 2nd in Sarpy County, 5 BALD EAGLES were seen east of Offutt Air
Force Base at Catfish Lakes.

In central Nebraska on the 1st in Buffalo County, a SHARP-SHINNED HAWK, a
KILLDEER and a WILSON'S SNIPE were found a half mile west of the Fairfield
Inn on the Hike-Bike Trail in Kearney.

In Phelps County on the 1st at Funk Lagoon, GREATER WHITE-FRONTED GEESE,
1160 SNOW GEESE, 3 AMERICAN WIGEONS, 1940 NORTHERN PINTAILS, a NORTHERN
HARRIER and a PRAIRIE FALCON were found.

In western Nebraska in Scotts Bluff County on the 1st , 2 PYGMY
NUTHATCHES were seen in the Wildcat Hills east of the Nature Center.
