Welcome to an update of the Nebraska Birdline, sponsored by the Audubon
Society of Omaha, for Friday, Mar. 21st, 2003.

In central Nebraska in Phelps County on the 19th, a BAIRD'S SANDPIPER and
a LONG-BILLED DOWITCHER were seen at Funk Lagoon.

In eastern Nebraska on the 18th in Sarpy County, a RED-SHOULDERED HAWK, a
WINTER WREN, a YELLOW-RUMPED WARBLER and an EASTERN TOWHEE were seen in
Fontenelle Forest in Bellevue. Also on the 18th, an EASTERN PHOEBE was
seen in Quail Creek housing area in Bellevue. On the 19th, a FOX SPARROW
was seen in a yard southwest of Fontenelle Hills in Bellevue.

In Lancaster County on the 20th, a FIELD SPARROW and WESTERN and EASTERN
MEADOWLARKS were singing at Spring Creek Prairie south of Denton. On the
16th, 2 TREE SWALLOWS were seen at Nine Mile Prairie. On the 17th, 25
TURKEY VULTURES were seen at 31st and Calvert in Lincoln.

In Wayne County on the 18th, a TURKEY VULTURE and a FOX SPARROW were seen
in Winside.

In western Nebraska in Keith County on the 19th, a MOUNTAIN CHICKADEE was
seen in the nature park in Ogallala. At Lake McConaughy on the 19th, a
GLAUCOUS GULL and a THAYER'S GULL were found.

In Sheridan County on the 15th, the following were seen around the Hay
Springs area: GOLDEN EAGLE, PINYON JAYS, PYGMY NUTHATCH, TOWNSEND'S
SOLITAIRE and MOUNTAIN BLUEBIRDS.

In Dawes County on the 15th, a PRAIRIE FALCON and a NORTHERN SHRIKE were
seen west of Sheridan Gates.

In Sioux County on the 16th, 3 ROUGH-LEGGED HAWKS, MOUNTAIN BLUEBIRDS and a
LINCOLN'S SPARROW were found from Highway 87 to the Henry Road along the
Nebraska-Wyoming border.
