Welcome to an update of the Nebraska Birdline, sponsored by the Audubon
Society of Omaha, for Tuesday, Apr. 8th, 2003.

In eastern Nebraska on the 7th in Knox County, a CHESTNUT-COLLARED
LONGSPUR was seen at the Creighton airport. In Antelope County on the
5th, a GRAY PARTRIDGE was spotted a half mile north of Highway 20 on
Highway 13. In Dixon County on the 5th, a CHIPPING SPARROW & a FOX
SPARROW were seen on a farm northwest of Wakefield. On the 3rd, a
SHORT-EARED OWL was seen 3 miles west & a half mile north of Wakefield.

In Sarpy County on the 8th, a pair of SMITH'S LONGSPURS was seen with 2
LAPLAND LONGSPURS along Harlan Lewis Road southeast of Offutt AFB. On
the 7th, 2 WILSON'S SNIPES, 7 AMERICAN PIPITS & a female BREWER'S
BLACKBIRD were seen in Haworth Park in Bellevue. On the 5th in
Fontenelle Forest, 2 RED-SHOULDERED HAWKS, a PEREGRINE FALCON & a
LINCOLN'S SPARROW were found. In Douglas County on the 4th, a GREAT
EGRET & 4 WILSON'S SNIPES were seen at Cunningham Lake.

In Washington County on the 6th, 130 HORNED LARKS, 16 VESPER SPARROWS, 29
SAVANNAH SPARROWS & 4 LAPLAND LONGSPURS were found north of Blair.

In Cass County on the 5th, a HORNED GREBE & 3 ROUGH-WINGED SWALLOWS were
seen at Louisville Lakes SRA.

In Jefferson County on the 5th, a NORTHERN MOCKINGBIRD was spotted at the
intersection of 712 Road & 574 Ave. a couple miles east of Fairbury. In
Saline County on the 5th, 3 ROSS'S GEESE were seen at Willard L. Meyer
Recreation Area.

In Lancaster County on the 7th, 2 CINNAMON TEAL were found at Pioneers
Park Nature Center in Lincoln. On the 1st at Stagecoach Lake the
following shorebirds were seen: 3 GREATER YELLOWLEGS, 2 LESSER
YELLOWLEGS, 10 BAIRD'S SANDPIPERS, 3 PECTORAL SANDPIPERS & 6 WILSON'S
SNIPES. On the 1st at Branched Oak Lake, 205 DOUBLE-CRESTED CORMORANTS,
36 AMERICAN WHITE PELICANS & a FOX SPARROW were seen. In Seward County
on the 3rd, a PURPLE MARTIN was seen in Seward.

In western Nebraska in Kimball County on the 8th, 2 MOUNTAIN PLOVERS were
found near the Colorado border. Also seen on the 8th in the county were,
3 ROUGH-LEGGED HAWKS, a SWAINSON'S HAWK & a GOLDEN EAGLE.

In Scotts Bluff County on the 5th at a pond on County Rd. G, 2 AMERICAN
AVOCETS & 3 WILSON'S SNIPES were found. At Winter's Creek Lake on the
5th, 2 EARED GREBES & a PRAIRIE FALCON were seen.

In Keith County on the 8th, 2 CLARK'S GREBES were found a Lake Ogallala.

In central Nebraska in Phelps County on the 3rd, a WILSON'S PHALAROPE &
2 MARSH WRENS were seen at Funk Lagoon.

In Buffalo County on the 3rd, 2 WHOOPING CRANES were spotted west of the
Minden Bridge from the Rowe Sanctuary viewing blind.
