Welcome to an update of the Nebraska Birdline, sponsored by the Audubon
Society of Omaha, for Tuesday, Apr. 15th, 2003.

In eastern Nebraska in Sarpy County on the 12th, 2 BLUE-GRAY GNATCATCHERS
and a YELLOW- THROATED WARBLER were found at Schramm State Park. On the
12th in Bellevue, a GREAT EGRET, a RED-SHOULDERED HAWK, a PILEATED
WOODPECKER, a ROUGH-WINGED SWALLOW, 2 HERMIT THRUSHES, 4 YELLOW-THROATED
WARBLERS, 2 LOUISIANA WATERTHRUSHES and 2 LINCOLN'S SPARROWS were found in
Fontenelle Forest. On the 15th south of Bellevue, a SEMIPALMATED PLOVER,
5 LESSER YELLOWLEGS, 10 LEAST SANDPIPERS, 12 BAIRD'S SANDPIPERS and 2
SEMIPALMATED SANDPIPERS were seen at the pond on Missouri River Road off
of Harlan Lewis Drive. In Douglas County on the 15th, a LOUISIANA
WATERTHRUSH was singing on Rock Creek at the north boundary of Neale Woods.

In Otoe County on the 13th, a singing PINE WARBLER was seen in Arbor
Lodge State Park in Nebraska City.

In Lancaster County on the 12th south of Denton, 5 GREATER
PRAIRIE-CHICKENS, 2 LOGGERHEAD SHRIKES and a NORTHERN MOCKINGBIRD were
found at Spring Creek Prairie.

In York County on the 14th, PURPLE MARTINS and a BARN SWALLOW were seen in York.

In western Nebraska In Scotts Bluff County on the 15th, a WHITE-WINGED
DOVE was spotted flying around the Scottsbluff Post Office. On the 14th,
south of Morrill, a GREAT EGRET, 3 pairs of CINNAMON TEAL, AMERICAN
AVOCETS, a SOLITARY SANDPIPER, 2 BURROWING OWLS, 4 BARN SWALLOWS and a BANK
SWALLOW were found at Kiowa WMA. On the 10th, a ROUGH-LEGGED HAWK, a
FERRUGINOUS HAWK, a MERLIN and a LONG-BILLED CURLEW were spotted along the
Henry Road.

In Keith County on the 13th, a COMMON LOON, 2 HORNED GREBES and 34 WESTERN
GREBES were found at Lake Ogallala. Also on the 13th, an early
MISSISSIPPI KITE was reported in Ogallala near 5thAve. and H Street.

In Lincoln County on the 14th, a pair of MARBLED GODWITS were seen in a
flooded meadow north of the North Platte Airport. Also on the 14th, a
pair of SAY'S PHOEBES were found in the Cedar Canyons area south of Brady.

In central Nebraska on the 14th in Harlan County, 2 LOGGERHEAD SHRIKES, a
BROWN THRASHER, VESPER SPARROWS, FIELD SPARROWS and CHIPPING SPARROWS were
found in Alma.
