Welcome to an update of the Nebraska Birdline, sponsored by the Audubon
Society of Omaha, for Tuesday, May 6th, 2003.

In eastern Nebraska in Sarpy County in Bellevue on the 6th, a TENNESSEE
WARBLER, 3 NASHVILLE WARBLERS, a BLACKPOLL WARBLER and a WILSON'S WARBLER
were found in Swanson Park on Cornhusker Road. At La Platte Cemetery on
the 6th, a BLUE-HEADED VIREO, a GRAY-CHEEKED THRUSH, a BLACKPOLL WARBLER
and a PALM WARBLER were found. A RUBY-THROATED HUMMINGBIRD was seen in
Dowding Park east of Bellevue East High School on the 6th. In Cass
County on the 2nd, a SCARLET TANAGER was spotted at Platte River State Park.

In York County on the 3rd, a BLACKBURNIAN WARBLER was seen in a yard on
Blackburn St. in York, and a PIPING PLOVER was spotted at Recharge Lake
just west of town. In Lancaster County on the 4th, a GOLDEN-WINGED
WARBLER was seen near Southeast. Community College.

In Johnson County on the 4th 3 miles southeast of St. Mary the following
species were found at Osage WMA: 10 species of warblers including
BLACKBURNIAN, TENNESSEE and BLACKPOLL WARBLER and CLAY-COLORED SPARROW,
NELSON'S SHARP-TAILED SPARROW and LARK SPARROW.

In Fillmore County on the 4th, a YELLOW-CROWNED NIGHT-HERON was seen at
the Geneva Cemetery. In Clay County on the 4th, 3 MARSH WRENS were found
at Harvard Marsh.

In the eastern Rainwater Basin on the 4th, a PEREGRINE FALCON and 17
species of shorebirds were found including 21 AMERICAN GOLDEN-PLOVERS, 26
AMERICAN AVOCETS, 7 HUDSONIAN GODWITS, 3 MARBLED GODWITS, 8 BUFF-BREASTED
SANDPIPERS and 7 SHORT-BILLED DOWITCHERS.

In Dodge County on the 6th in Fremont, an EASTERN WOOD-PEWEE, a WOOD
THRUSH, a BLACK-and- WHITE WARBLER and an OVENBIRD were seen at Hormel Park.
On the 5th, a GRAY PARTRIDGE was seen 5 miles north and 1 mile west of Ames.

In western Nebraska in Lincoln County on the 5th, 2 SNOWY EGRETS were
found on the North Platte River just east of North Platte.

In Scotts Bluff County on the 5th, at Kiowa WMA a SNOWY EGRET, 2 GREAT
EGRETS and 3 pairs of CINNAMON TEAL were seen. Also on the 5th, 2
WHITE-FACED IBIS and a MARBLED GODWIT were found at Schmidt Implement
between Mitchell and Morrill. On the 4th, a SAY'S PHOEBE, a MOUNTAIN
BLUEBIRD and 2 MACGILLIVRAY'S WARBLERS were found in Carter Canyon. In Box
Butte County on the 4th, a LONG-BILLED CURLEW, a PEREGRINE FALCON and a
LARK BUNTING were found near Kilpatrick Lake.

In Hitchcock County on the 5th, a PRAIRIE FALCON, a BELL'S VIREO and a
BLUE-GRAY GNATCATCHER were seen at Swanson Reservoir.

In central Nebraska in Adams County on the 3rd, 2 BROAD-WINGED HAWKS, a
NORTHERN WATERTHRUSH and a BLACK-CROWNED NIGHT-HERON were found in the
Parkview Cemetery in Hastings. In Webster County on the 3rd, a NORTHERN
MOCKINGBIRD was seen 3 miles west and 1 mile north of Guide Rock.

In Harlan County on the 4th a LONG-BILLED CURLEW was sighted from the
boat dock at Alma, and an AMERICAN AVOCET and WILLETS were seen south of
the Highway 183 Bridge.
