Welcome to an update of the Nebraska Birdline, sponsored by the Audubon
Society of Omaha, for Wednesday, May 28, 2003.

In eastern Nebraska in Washington County at Boyer Chute NWR on the 24th,
4 HENSLOW'S SPARROWS were found and on the 27, 2 were seen. On the 22nd,
a NELSON'S SHARP-TAILED SPARROW and a BOBOLINK were seen at Boyer Chute.
On the 26th on the section of DeSoto NWR on the Nebraska side of the
Missouri River, a PINE WARBLER was found. On the 25th at Nathan's Lake,
a WILLOW FLYCATCHER was seen. At Neale Woods on the 26th, a
YELLOW-THROATED WARBLER, a CANADA WARBLER and a SCARLET TANAGER were found
on the Krimlofski Tract.

In Douglas County from the 24th to the 26th at Walnut Grove Park, 14
species of warblers were seen including CERULEAN, BLACKBURNIAN, CANADA,
BLACK-THROATED GREEN and MOURNING. Also seen there on the 26th were, 3
ALDER FLYCATCHERS and 3 PHILADELPHIA VIREOS. On the 28th, an OLIVE-SIDED
FLYCATCHER was found there. Walnut Grove is located at 150th and Q Streets
in Omaha. On the 25th at Dodge Park Marina, 3 COMMON TERNS were found.
Also on the 25th, a BROAD- WINGED HAWK, a CHESTNUT-SIDED WARBLER, a
CERULEAN WARBLER, 2 KENTUCKY WARBLERS and 2 SUMMER TANAGERS were seen at
the north end of Hummel Park.

In Lancaster County on the 26th, a LAZULI BUNTING was seen at Wilderness
Park in the Pioneers Boulevard area. On the 27th at Wagontrain Lake,
east of Hickman, an EARED GREBE, a GREAT EGRET, a LITTLE BLUE HERON and a
BLACK TERN were found. At Branched Oak Lake on the 27th, 84 AMERICAN
WHITE PELICANS, 12 DOUBLE-CRESTED CORMORANTS, 2 GREAT EGRETS and 2 RED-
BREASTED MERGANSERS were seen. At Conestoga Lake north of Denton, a
WHITE-FRONTED GOOSE, 2 PECTORAL SANDPIPERS and 14 WHITE-RUMPED SANDPIPERS
were spotted.

In southeastern Otoe County on the 27th 2 KENTUCKY WARBLERS were singing
in woodlands along the "Fall Foliage" route southwest of the Nebraska
City OPPD power plant, and an OLIVE-SIDED FLYCATCHER was found east of there.

In Knox County on the 24th, a BLUE-WINGED WARBLER was seen south of
Verdigre. On the 25th and 26that Standing Bear Bridge northeast of
Niobrara, a PIPING PLOVER, a MARBLED GODWIT, RUDDY TURNSTONES and LEAST
TERNS were seen.

In western Nebraska in Scotts Bluff County on the 24th at the Wildcat
Hills Nature Center, a PYGMY NUTHATCH, a LAZULI BUNTING and a RED
CROSSBILL were seen.

In southeastern Sioux County on the 25th, the CURVE-BILLED THRASHER was
still being seen on the Frimann Ranch.

In Lincoln County on the 26th, a PINE SISKIN was seen at a feeder in Brady.
