Society of Omaha, for Wednesday, June 11, 2003.
In eastern Nebraska in York County on the 9th, 4 SEMIPALMATED PLOVERS, 3
AMERICAN AVOCETS and a GREAT-TAILED GRACKLE were found at Spike Rush WMA.
On the 9th in Seward County a mile north of Utica, a BOBOLINK was seen at
North Lake Basin WMA.
In Knox County on the 8th, 7 WHITE-RUMPED SANDPIPERS and 25 LEAST TERNS
were found on the Missouri River at Niobrara.
In Antelope County in Neligh on the 8th, 4 COMMON TERNS were seen at Penn
Lake and a BLACK-HEADED GROSBEAK was seen at Russell Park.
In Dixon County on the 8th, a TENNESSEE WARBLER was singing in Ponca
State Park. Also on the 8th, a HARRIS'S SPARROW was seen on a farm
northwest of Wakefield. On the 9th, 2 CATTLE EGRETS were seen a mile
north and a mile west of Wakefield.
In Lancaster County on the 7th, a GREATER PRAIRIE-CHICKEN WITH 2 young
chicks and a HENSLOW'S SPARROW were seen at Spring Creek Prairie south of
Denton.
In Sarpy County on the 10th, 2 BLACK TERNS were seen at Walnut Creek Lake
southwest of Papillion.
In central Nebraska in Howard County on the 8th, 4 LEAST TERNS were seen
on the Middle Loup River at Leonard A. Koziol SWMA. Also on the 8th, 2
EURASIAN COLLARED-DOVES and a TENNESSEE WARBLER were found in St. Paul.
In western Nebraska in Keith County on the 7th, a PACIFIC LOON, 2
BUFFLEHEADS, 3 COMMON GOLDENEYES, 2 HOODED MERGANSERS, a LEAST FLYCATCHER
and a SWAINSON'S THRUSH were found at Lake Ogallala. At Lake McConaughy on
the 7th, 4 SEMIPALMATED PLOVERS, 5 SNOWY PLOVERS, 6 MARBLED GODWITS, 42
SANDERLINGS, 600 WHITE-RUMPED SANDPIPERS, 4 STILT SANDPIPERS and 2
BONAPARTE'S GULLS were seen.
In Kimball County on the 6th, 19 LEAST SANDPIPERS, 3 WHITE-RUMPED
SANDPIPERS and 2 SWAINSON'S THRUSHES were found at Oliver Reservoir.
In Sioux County on the 8th, CASSIN'S SPARROWS and BREWER'S BLACKBIRDS were
found near Harrison. South of Harrison on the 8th, CHESTNUT-COLLARED
LONGSPURS and MCCOWN'S LONGSPURS were seen along and near Highway 29. On the
11th, the CURVE-BILLED THRASHER was still being seen on the Frimann Ranch.
