In Dixon County on the 27th, a Warbling Vireo, a Least Flycatcher, a Northern Waterthrush,
and Barn, Cliff and Northern Rough-winged Swallows were seen in Wakefield.
In Knox County on the 25th August, a female/imm. Calliope Hummingbird was seen at a
feeder in Creighton. At least 5 Ruby-throated Hummingbirds were also seen on the 25th -
27th.
In Douglas County on the 26th , at least 100 Common Nighthawks were seen in the urban
setting of north Omaha.
In Dodge County on the 27th and 28th, 95-105 Common Nighthawks were seen both evenings
at Midland Lutheran College campus in Fremont.
In Furnas County on the 28th, 37 Common Nighthawks counted in a yard.
In Lancaster County on the 30th, a female Ruby-throated Hummingbird was present at a
feeder in Lincoln.
In Scotts Bluff County on the 30th, 3 Black-headed Grosbeaks, a Red Crossbill, several
American Goldfinches, 2 Northern Flickers, 2 Downy Woodpeckers, several House Finches,
and 7 Blue Jays were seen at feeders in Mitchell. In a backyard, a Brown Thrasher and a
first-year male Baltimore Oriole were observed.
In Eastern Nebraska in Sarpy County on the 30th, a Red-breasted Nuthatch, a Brown Creeper,
an Ovenbird and two NashvilleWarblers were seen at Prairie Trail in Fontenelle Forest
(Bellevue).
In Clay County on the 30th, 2 Tricolored Herons, 2 Snowy Egret and several Great Egrets
were present at Wetland #229.
In the eastern Rainwater Basin on the 30th, the following species were found: about 90
American White Pelicans (WPA), 17 Cattle Egrets, 14 Great Egrets, 2 Black-crowned
Night-herons, 13 Plegadis spp., hundreds of Blue-winged Teals, 450 Northern Pintails
(at a basin in York County), Green-winged Teals, 8 Semipalmated Plovers, 1 juv. Western
Sandpiper, 5 juv. Short-billed Dowitchers, 3 Empidonax spp., 1 Bell's Vireo, 1 Black-
and-white Warbler (in York County), 1 Mourning Warbler, 2 Wilson's Warblers and 4
Dickcissels. At Lake North/Babcock 3 Sanderlings, 7 Buff-breasted Sandpipers and 1
Caspian Tern were seen. At Summit Lake 1 Olive-sided Flycatcher, 3 Bell's Vireos and
1 Clay-colored Sparrow were seen.
In Dixon County on the 30th, a Great Horned Owl, 3 Baltimore Orioles, a Orange-crowned
Warbler, a Yellow Warbler, a Common Yellowthroat, a Black and White Warbler, a male
Wilson's Warbler, a Warbling Vireo, a male Eastern Bluebird, a Brown Thrasher, 50 Cliff
Swallows, 8 Chimney Swifts and 1 male and 2 female Ruby-throated Hummingbirds were seen
in Wakefield.
In Dixon County on the 31st, a male Eastern Bluebird, a Brown Thrasher, 3 Baltimore
Orioles, a Swainson's Thrush, 2 Indigo Buntings, a Wilson's Warbler, a Nashville Warbler,
a Least Flycatcher and a Yellow Warbler were seen in Wakefield. Also 1 male and 5 female
Ruby-throated Hummingbirds were seen at feeders in Wakefield.
In Scotts Bluff County on the 31st, an Ovenbird, Black-headed Grosbeaks, Brown Thrashers,
a Black and White Warbler, a MacGillivray's Warbler, a Wilson's Warbler, 2 Orange-crowned
Warblers, 2 Warbling Vireos, a Gray Catbird, and 2 Common Nighthawks were seen in Mitchell.
In Sarpy County on the 31st, a steady stream of Common Nighthawks was moving in Bellevue
for about 20 minutes. Also 2 female Ruby-throated Hummingbirds at a feeder in Bellevue
for the last 4 days.
In Sarpy County on the 31st, a Golden-winged Warbler, a Blackburnian Warbler, a Black-
throated Green Warbler, a Wilson's Warbler, a Nashville Warbler, a Tennessee Warbler,
a Mourning Warbler, Common Yellowthroat and American Redstart were seen along Gifford
Road in Fontenelle Forest.
In Dodge, Colfax, and Platte counties on the 31st, numerous groups of 10 to 25 Eastern
Kingbirds were seen.
In Platte County on the 31st, 21 American White Pelicans, 1 Double-crested Cormorant,
3 Baird's Sandpipers, 11 Buff-breasted Sandpipers, 3 Sanderlings,1 Ruddy Turnstone and
10 Black Terns were seen in North/Babcock area. Also 20 Great Blue Herons, 8 Green Herons,
2 Great Egrets, 1 Greater Yellow-legs, and 1 Spotted Sandpiper were seen in Loup Tail-race
Area.
