In Hitchcock county on August 31st, 2 Forster's Terns, a Black Tern, 8 Spotted
Sandpipers, 18 Franklin's Gulls, 75+ Ring-billed Gulls, 51 American White Pelicans,
17 Great Blue Herons, 15 Turkey Vultures, a (juv.)Olive-sided Flycatcher, a Chipping
Sparrow, a Red-eyed Vireo, a Barn Owl, a Dickcissel, a Empidonax sp. and a Swainson's
Hawk were seen around Swanson Lake, the WMA areas surrounding it, and nearby county
roads. There were about 10 Wood Ducks, 57 Blue-winged Teals and 3 Mallards at Macklin
Bay. There were 23 Northern Flickers in a 2 mile stretch one mile south and east of
Stratton, including 12 together in one dead cottonwood tree.

In Garfield County on August 31st, 2 Turkey Vultures, 3 Wood Ducks, a Northern Harrier,
a Common Nighthawk, 2 Loggerhead Shrikes, 3 Bell's Vireos, 5 Field Sparrows and 2 Blue
Grosbeaks were observed along Cedar Creek. Other birds found in Garfield county were:
Upland Sandpipers, a Cooper's Hawk and a Grasshopper Sparrow (north central Garfield
County). A Solitary Sandpiper, 9 Lark Sparrows, 6 Common Nighthawks, 25 Northern
Bobwhites, a Greater White-fronted Goose, and at least one hundred Yellow-headed Blackbirds
were seen around Burwell. In the entire county, a total of 26 American Kestrels, 164
Mourning Doves, 104 Eastern Kingbirds and 40 Eastern Bluebirds were observed.

In the Sandhills in Sheridan County along Hwy 2 on August 31st, a Black-Crowned Night-
Heron, a White-Faced Ibis, a Stilt Sandpiper, a Semipalmated Sandpiper, a Franklin's Gull,
and hundreds of American Avocets were seen. In Thomas County on August 31st and September
1-3, a Ovenbird, a Red-Breasted Nuthatch, dozens Spotted Towhees, a Field Sparrow, a
Swainson's Thrush, a Vesper Sparrow, a Red-Headed Woodpecker, a Least Flycatcher, a
Clay-Colored Sparrow, a Gray Catbird, a Blue Grosbeak were found. In Grant County along
Hwy 2 just east of Hyannis on September 2nd, a Forster's Tern, a Black Tern, a Stilt
Sandpiper, a Long-Billed Dowitcher, a Lesser Yellowlegs, and Greater Yellowlegs were seen.

In northwestern Nebraska on August 31st and September 1st, a Semipalmated Plover was seen
at Kilpatrick Lake in Box Butte County. A Sanderling was seen at Box Butte Reservoir, Box
Butte County. Seven Long-billed Curlews were seen in Sheridan County along with Eurasian
Collared-Doves in Gordon, Sheridan County. In Ainsworth, Brown County, a Clark's Nutcracker
was seen. In Sowbelly Canyon in Sioux County, 2 Rufous Hummingbirds were seen. In
Harrison, Sioux County, a Ruby-throated Hummingbird was seen. An American Pipit was seen
at Box Butte Reservoir, Box Butte County. A Wilson's Warbler was seen in Sheridan County,
along with a Townsend's Warbler at Gordon cemetery in Sheridan County. A Curve-billed
Thrasher was seen in SE Sioux County and singing Brewer's Sparrow at the WY/NE border road
in Sioux County.

In Dixon County on September 1st, a Rose-breasted Grosbeak and Belted Kingfisher were seen
in a yard in Wakefield.

In the eastern Rainwater Basin in Clay County on September 1st, a Tricolored Heron, 2 Snowy
Egrets and 2 Great Egrets were seen 1/2 mile north of Green Acres WPA. A Wilson's Warbler
and 3 Empidonax spp. were at Lange. Flocks of 350 and 250 Yellow-headed Blackbirds and a
Eurasian Collared-Dove were near entrance to Fillmore County Fairgrounds at Geneva. A
female Northern Harrier was at Green Acres WPA.

In Scotts Bluff County on September 1st, a male Rose-breasted Grosbeak and over 200 Common
Nighthawks were observed in Mitchell.

In Garfield County on September 1st, a Virginia Rail, a Sora, and a Spotted Sandpiper were
seen in Burwell. Fourteen American White Pelicans, 8 Turkey Vultures, 2 Spotted Sandpipers,
a Semipalmated Sandpiper, a Baird's Sandpiper, 100 Franklin's Gulls and several hundred
Ring-billed Gulls were seen at the Calamus Reservoir. A Yellow-billed Cuckoo, an Eastern
Phoebe, 2 Great Crested Flycatchers, 12 Grasshopper Sparrows were recorded along the
Pebble Creek Historical and Scenic Road.

In western Nebraska on September 1st and September 2nd, a Pine Siskin, a Red Crossbill,
a female Lazuli Bunting and a Spotted Towhee were seen at Wildcat Hills SRA, Scotts Bluff
County. A Sage Thrasher was at Scottsbluff National Monument, Scotts Bluff County. A
Yellow-Billed Loon (see below), hundreds of Western Grebes, a California Gull, a Great
Egret, a singing Bell's Vireo, a singing Warbling Vireo and a Savannah Sparrow were
recorded at Lake McConaughy in Keith County.

In Keith County on September 2nd, an adult Yellow-billed Loon was spotted at Lake
McConaughy near the south side of Kingsley Dam.

In Clay County on September 2nd, a Tricolored Heron was still present. Also observed
were: 3 Great Egrets, 3 Snowy Egrets, a Green Heron and 2 Greater Yellowlegs. Among other
species were: several hundred ducks, mostly Blue-winged Teal with a few Northern
Pintails and Shovelers. Babs and Loren Padelford provided the following description how
to reach the site: If you are approaching from the west go 6 miles east of Clay Center
on Hwy 41 to Rd. T. Go 3 miles south on Rd. T and at the intersection with Rd. 310 go right
(west) a short distance and scope the wetland to the south. If you are approaching from the
east go 5 miles south of Sutton to Hwy 41, then 4 miles west and 3 miles south.

In Dodge County on September 2nd, Whip-poor-will was recorded in Ames.
