In Cherry County on the 1st, a Clark's Grebe, a Franklinās Gull, a Tree Swallow and
a Say's Phoebe were seen at Mother Lake in southwest part of that county. Also on the
1st, Yellow-headed Blackbirds were observed at Edleman Lake east of Hyannis.
In Lancaster County on the 1st, an Eastern Wood Pewee and Eastern Phoebes were recorded
at Wilderness Park in Lincoln.
In Lincoln County on April 2nd, a Chipping Sparrow was seen in North Platte/Brady.
In Lancaster County on the 2nd, 4 Wood Ducks, a Yellow-bellied Sapsucker, 3 Eastern
Phoebes, 2 Golden-crowned Kinglets, 2 Fox Sparrows and 2 Purple Finches were recorded
at Spring Creek Prairie near Denton.
In Sarpy County on the 2nd, 12 Common Snipes, a Lesser Yellowlegs and a Greater
Yellowlegs were seen at a small pond on Missouri River Rd. (south of Offutt AFB).
In Scotts Bluff County on the 2nd, at least 200 American White Pelicans and 500
Sandhill Cranes were seen at Winter's Creek Lake north of Scottsbluff.
In Buffalo County on the 2nd, 17 Greater Yellowlegs and 6 Baird's Sandpipers were
observed at Kearney Lake (up the hill north of the UNK athletic field).
In Knox County on the 3rd, 2 Northern Saw-whet Owls were recorded north of Grove
Lake along the Knox Co./ Antelope Co. line.
In Nance County on the 3rd, a Eurasian-collared Dove was reported from Genoa. The
bird has been around for weeks.
In Sarpy County on the 3rd, an Eastern Phoebe, a Northern Rough-winged Swallow, a
Winter Wren, a Hermit Thrush, and a Fox Sparrow were observed at Fontenelle Forest.
In Scotts Bluff County on the 3rd, 80 Turkey Vultures roosting in the Gering neighborhood.
In Nuckoll County on the 3rd, a Barn Swallow was seen at Lawrence Sewer.
In Phelps County on the 3rd, 2 Common Snipes, 7 Baird's Sandpipers and 8 Snow Goose
were seen at Funk Lagoon.
In Lancaster County on the 3rd, a Smith's Longspur was recorded at Nine-mile Prairie
near Lincoln.
In Hitchcock County on the 4th, a Greater Prairie-chicken was recorded within 14 miles
of the KS border.
In Lancaster County on the 4th, a Northern Mockingbird was recorded 7 1/2 miles east
of Lincoln.
In Richard County on the 4th, a Northern Goshawk was seen at Indian Cave SP.
In Franklin County on the 4th, 2 Eurasian-collared Doves and a Northern Rough-winged
Swallow were seen in Naponee.
In Johnson County on the 4th, 11 Bonaparteās Gulls were recorded at Tecumseh Sewer.
In the Eastern Rainwater Basin on the 4th, a Long-tailed Duck was seen at the Fairmont
Sewage Lagoons (Fillmore Co.), 2 Greater Scaups were recorded at North Lake Basin.
A Cinnamon Teal was seen at Weis WPA. Also 322 Baird's Sandpipers (205 of which at one
2-3 acre pool at the Hultine WPA), 2 Great Egrets, a Swainson's Hawk, 12 American
Golden-Plovers, 4 Least Sandpipers, a Long-billed Dowitcher, 77 Common Snipes, a few
Yellow-headed Blackbirds at Weis WPA and 6 Great-tailed Grackles at Hupp were observed.
In Phelps County on the 4th, 23 Baird's Sandpipers were seen at Funk Lagoon.
In Sarpy County on the 4th, a Red-breasted Merganser was seen at Base Lake and 155
American White Pelicans were flying over.
In Scotts Bluff County on the 4th, a pair of Cinnamon Teals was seen a pond east of
Scottsbluff along hiway 26.
In Fillmore County on the 5th, a Long-tailed Duck (found by Joel Jorgensen on 4/4),
6 Baird's Sandpipers and 2 Bonaparte's Gulls were recorded at Fairmont Sewage Lagoons.
An Eurasian Collared-dove was seen in the town of Fairmont. Fourteen Great-tailed
Grackles were observed on the east side of Mallard Haven WPA.
In Nuckolls County on the 5th, a Rough-legged Hawk and an Eastern Phoebe were observed.
In Sarpy County on the 5th, a Winter Wren was seen at Neale Woods.
In McPherson County on the 6th, 3 Trumpeter Swans and 3 Sharp-tailed Grouses were recorded.
In Harlan County on the 6th, a Barn Swallow and a Cliff Swallow were recorded at Alma.
In Scotts Bluff County on the 6th, 11 Cinnamon Teals, 6 female Northern Harriers and
4 American Avocets were seen at Kiowa WMA.
In Knox County on the 6th, 3 Northern Saw-whet Owls (at different locations) and a
Long-eared Owl were recorded.
In Buffalo County on the 7th, 9 Purple Martins were seen at a nesting complex in
southeast Kearney.
In Lincoln County on the 7th, at least 30 Buffleheads, a Cooper's Hawk and a Common
Snipe were seen in North Platte.
In Lancaster County on the 9th, a Barred Owl was recorded at Spring Creek Prairie near
Denton.
In Sarpy County on the 9th, 3 White Fronted Geese, 3 Ross's Geese, 10 Common Snipes and
6 White Rumped Sandpipers were observed at Offutt Base Lake and surrounding area.
In Sarpy County on the 9th, a male Yellow-Throated Warbler and a Winter Wren were seen
at South Stream Trail in Fontenelle Forest.
In Keya Paha County on the 10th, an American Curlew was seen in a field at 1 1/2 miles
below the Carns bridge and about a half mile up the hill away from the Niobrara River.
In Rock County on the 10th, 6 Sharp-tailed Grouses were recorded 6 and 1/2 miles NE of
Bassett.
In Sarpy County on the 10th, a Great Egret was seen at wetlands in Fontenelle Forest.
In Johnson County on the 11th, 2 Cooper's Hawks, 2 Greater Scaups, a Bonaparte's Gull
and a Winter Wren were recorded at Hickory Ridge WMA and Tecumseh.
In Pawnee County on the 11th, 2 Red-Breasted Mergansers and a Brown Thrasher were seen
in the Burchard Lake area.
In Hamilton County on the 11th, an Eurasian Collared-Dove was seen in Hampton.
In York County on the 11th, 250 American White Pelicans, 16 Bairdās Sandpipers and 27
Common Snipes wee recorded (mostly at Heron WPA).
